ARTS OPEN 2022 is a COVIDsafe event designed to promote regional visual arts on Dja Dja Wurrung country in historic Castlemaine, Newstead, Maldon, Taradale and district. Offering a rare opportunity to visit studios and galleries within the shire and experience a behind the scenes, personal look at artists in their natural habitat, discuss their artwork and techniques, and purchase directly from the artist.

Beginning as a boomtown after gold was discovered in 1851, Castlemaine and the Mount Alexander Shire boasts a vibrant community with an eclectic mix of people and a broad range of historical, culinary, artistic and social opportunities for visitors.

Michael Wolfe

Painter & Photographer

Michael Wolfe has had over 30 solo exhibitions and numerous group shows, been included in the 2019 Castlemaine State Festival with the exhibition ‘Shimmer’, the 2020 contemporary landscape survey show (Con)textural Landscapes at Bendigo Art Gallery, 2019 Ballarat International Photo Biennale open program and collaborated with renowned Australian author Alex Miller in the international collab project and exhibition Now&Them in Shanghai China.
