Arts Open 2022 –Meet The Makers

A Welcome Celebration this March

Over 120 artists and organisations have responded to the Arts Open 2022 call to plan events, open studios and host exhibitions, workshops and shows for the weekends of March 12,13,14 & 19 20.

Designed to promote regional visual arts on Dja Dja Wurrung country in the historic townships of Castlemaine, Newstead, Maldon, Taradale, Chewton and beyond, the event offers a rare opportunity to engage with artists and their work in their natural habitat, explore the cultural tourism of the Mount Alexander Shire and celebrate the truly awesome arts and culture this region is renowned for.

“2022 marks the sixth Arts Open and will be the biggest we’ve held –this is extraordinary given the uncertainty we’re surrounded by –and is real reason for celebration…We knew it was important to have something to look forward to and the response from artists confirms this,” said artist and event coordinator Michael Wolfe.

Working with fellow AO founder and web designer, Rob Jennings at We Push Buttons and a cohort of volunteers, organisations, groups and businesses such as Legion Office Works, the Arts Open team have the green light on this COVIDsafe event. So look out for postcards, posters and full colour programmes -56 pages with heaps of information on the event, the artists and those who sponsor and support the arts and cultural life of the Shire.
